These can include the following:
- Social events/parties: Getting together socially and as a team for dinner, drinks, a sporting event, etc. can have an enormous bonding effect. Getting to know people personally can improve trust and make for much more effective working relationships.
- Community service day: Plan a day for the entire company, or a team, to perform a community service activity.
- Make noise: Give everyone on the team a unique noisemaker (kazoo, bell, harmonica, etc.). Tell them to use the noisemaker whenever something good happened. Make a sale, use the noisemaker. Meet a goal, use the noisemaker.
- Make “fun” a core value: Core values are a nonnegotiable handful of rules your organization lives by every day that drives attitude and behavior. Including fun as a core value will ensure it stays a high priority.
- Themed work environment: Create fun, themed work environments periodically. These themes can include things like
- Music – Play upbeat music in the
- Games – Have games around like Scrabble, Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit,
- Sports – Wear something from your favorite sports
